Higher education in Serbia

Information about the education system Serbia started implementing Bologna Process (signed in 2003) from 2007/08 with new reformed study programmes. There are three types of higher education institutions in Serbia: universities, colleges of applied studies and colleges of academic studies. List of HE institutions and study programmes available in English and other languages StudyinSerbia.rs is a database of learning opportunities available in Serbia. It contains information about study programmes offered by universities and colleges and other useful information for individuals who wish to come and teach or study in Serbia.Private and state higher education institutions have the equal status in educational in Serbia. The higher education institutions must be accredited by the Commission for Accreditation and Quality Assurance before obtaining the working license. Types of studies The higher education system in Serbia has two types of studies: academic studies organized at universities, and applied studies organized primarily at colleges of applied studies, and occasionally at universities as well.

* In the field of medical science (studies of medicine, dentistry and veterinary medicine), integrated courses are organized in the duration of 6 years and carrying a minimum of 360 ECTS. Pharmacy studies also offer integrated courses that carry 300 ECTS.

Serbia in Erasmus+ in 2015 (2016 call) Serbia is currently participating in Erasmus+ as a partner country. Promotion and implementation of Erasmus+ programme in Serbia, as far as education parts are concerned, is delegated to the Foundation Tempus – Erasmus+ Office in Serbia (www.erasmusplus.rs). The Erasmus+ programme has three Key Actions and two separate parts – Jean Monnet and Sport. Serbian institutions can take part in certain types of projects within each of the enumerated Erasmus+ parts. In some of them Serbian institutions can be involved as applicants and partners while in others they can only participate as partners.
