The Erasmus+ programme provides an opportunity for higher education institutions to participate in mobility projects and send students and employees of higher education institutions to other European countries or to participate in international cooperation projects.
Organizations from Serbia can have the role of coordinator, i.e. project applicant or project partner.
The following opportunities for participation in the program are available to higher education institutions:
- KA1 Mobility projects – Under these projects, institutions can send their students and staff for shorter or longer periods of study, training or internship in one of the programme countries or they can organize various incoming mobility activities for partner institutions. Physical as well as blended mobility projects are available for students and employees in higher education institutions with the aim of strengthening the quality of teaching, the European dimension in teaching and the contribution to the European educational space.
- KA2 Higher Education Partnerships enable institutions to participate in international cooperation projects, strengthen their capacities and produce innovative results.
- Erasmus Mundus projects aim to encourage excellence and internationalization of higher education institutions through master’s study programmes, which are jointly conducted and jointly recognized by higher education institutions in Europe, and are also open to institutions in other countries around the world.
- Erasmus+ academies for the improvement of teacher education aim to create European partnerships between institutions dealing with teacher education and training. The development of these academies is expected to increase interest in the teaching profession and to ensure high-quality initial teacher education, but also their continuous professional development.
- Jean Monnet activities within the Erasmus + program aim to promote excellence in teaching and research in the field of European Union studies around the world. These projects encourage dialogue between academia and European policy makers. Jean Monnet actions are divided into three types of projects, namely: Jean Monnet modules, Jean Monnet chairs and Jean Monnet centers of excellence.
- Alliances for education and companies are two-year or three-year international projects that are implemented in cooperation between higher education institutions, vocational education and training institutions, as well as public and private companies, non-governmental organizations, etc. in which the partners set common goals and work together to encourage innovation, develop new skills, launch initiatives and entrepreneurial spirit and thinking.
Erasmus+ Virtual Exchanges in Higher Education and Youth offer young people an opportunity to enrich intercultural dialogue and soft skills through online platforms, expanding access to international education. While not a complete substitute for physical mobility, these exchanges provide a valuable first step for intercultural learning and can serve as a foundation for future in-person collaborations.
STEM Skills Foundries are international cooperation projects aiming to develop sectorial, transnational and sustainable partnerships between higher education institutions, enterprises, research centres, VET providers, NGOs etc. These projects foster innovative and multidisciplinary teaching and learning methods by allowing students entrepreneurs to gain insight into real business practices and providing mentorship tailored to their specific goals, needs and talents.
- European Universities are a strategic programme offering four-year funding to higher education institutions to encourage them to establish new or strengthen existing alliances by developing deeper inter-institutional ties as the foundation for structural, systemic, and sustainable cooperation. The most common outcomes of these projects are joint study programmes and successful international teams, and the idea is to facilitate seamless mobility for students, teaching staff, and researchers within these alliances, and thus step up the competitiveness of tertiary education, and foster research and innovation in Europe.
- Capacity building projects in higher education are international cooperation projects based on multilateral partnerships between higher education institutions and other organisations active in the field of higher education. The goal of these projects is to aid higher education institutions from third countries not associated to the Programme in solving the problems and challenges they are facing and to support their modernisation, internationalisation and increasing access to higher education through the transfer of good practices.
- Erasmus+ Forward-looking Projects aim to foster innovation, creativity and participation, as well as social entrepreneurship within and across different education sectors and disciplines. Forward-Looking Projects are large-scale projects that aim to identify, develop, test and/or assess innovative policy approaches that have the potential of becoming mainstreamed, thus improving education and training systems. They will support forward-looking ideas responding to key European priorities. They should give input for improving education and training systems, as well as bring a substantial innovative effect in terms of methods and practices to all types of learning and active participation settings for Europe’s social cohesion. They focus on future-oriented reforms, address atrategic priorities such as digital transformation, inclusion, sustainability, skills for the labour market, and European cooperation
